A huge thank you to my amazing models who helped me out unconditionally (truly unconditionally considering what I made them do) with this Nine Adjective Grid: Richard, Sam, Gretchen, Emily, Leya, Evelyn, Jess, Nadine, and Daniel! You guys were absolutely fantastic. ūüôā

Poorly Executed Parfum.

This Ad Replica was pretty much the worst project I did throughout this ENTIRE year. I bit off so much more than I could chew- just because I really liked this Chanel No. 5 ad and I thought (I THOUGHT) I was getting comfortable with Photoshop. I had to use five different images simply to pull this poorly executed train wreck together and it only spiraled from there. By the time my deadline rolled around, I just wanted to hand it in and be done with it. I spent way too much time working on this: ages obsessing over every little particle of this image, aligning everything just so, playing with contrast and colour, looking for dead pixels, finding the perfect blur, etc, etc, etc. While it might not look like much, this was two weeks of my life.

However, on the up side, spending so much time playing with Photoshop meant I became a hell of a lot better with it- and hopefully, you’ll agree when I start uploading some of my later (better) projects. Enjoy!

And thanks so much to my lovely model, Kelly, who put up with me while I mopped mirrors, taped blankets into a demented cocoon around the lights, and gave her whiplash attempting to imitate this Chanel No 5 in this photoshoot!

Over the last year, I’ve let this blog slip. A lot. And I regret that, but I also think that what mainly kept me from sharing my photos and updating Stylish and Snappy was worth pursuing- at least for this year. From now on, however, I get to play with the fun stuff. I’m going to upload all the projects I worked on in my photography classes this year and I’ll continue to post my work into the summer. Here’s to catching up! ūüôā

This first project was about portraiture- modeled by the beautiful Evelyn Parker under studio lighting.

Occasionally, I sneak into the wooded waterfall behind my neighbor’s house to take photos (which you know, if you’ve seen some of my other posts) because it’s just so beautiful there. I always get such great backgrounds for my photos. It’s definitely worth all the nerve endings I killed while snapping away furiously in the freezing weather. Expect this in some of my future posts, especially when it gets warmer! Then I can experiment with some new ideas I have and it’ll get even more fun.

I just want to let you guys know: none of these photos are photoshopped. The mist is completely natural– well, sort of. I was lying on the freezing road next to (the hypothermic) Sam when inspiration struck! I breathed on the lens and kept snapping like crazy until it faded throughout this entire shoot. It’s so fun to play with my lenses on site and it makes me feel a little Mann-esque. Although I don’t think I’m quite ready to start growing mold in my lenses just yet.
